Why Mutual of Omaha Dental Insurance?

Mutual of Omaha boasts a dental insurance plan with no surprises. With this dental insurance plan, you know what your out-of-pocket costs will be from the beginning.

Mutual of Omaha Dental Insurance Plans

Mutual of Omaha offers two plan options:

  1. Mutual Dental Preferred℠ Insurance Policy
  2. Mutual Dental Protection℠ Insurance Policy

The Preferred plan offers slightly more coverage, with a calendar year benefit of $1,500, while the protection plan offers a calendar year benefit of $1,000. For both plans, preventive services – two cleanings per year and X-rays – are 100% covered.

Basic services like fillings, extractions, and emergency treatment are covered at 80% for the preferred plan and 50% for the protection plan. Both plans offer 50% coverage for major services like crowns, dentures, bridges, root canals, and periodontics.

With Mutual of Omaha, you also have the option to add a vision benefit to your dental policy. The vision benefit reimburses you for one eye exam per year (up to $50), and up to $150 every two years for glasses or contacts.

The Mutual of Omaha Dental Insurance plans come with:

  • Pretreatment estimates for services $200 or more when you call 800-775-1000 and select the dental claims option
  • No waiting period for preventive and basic services
  • 30-day free look period
  • Guaranteed renewable
  • Premiums won't increase due to any change in health

Do you offer pretreatment estimates?

Yes. To request a pretreatment estimate for services $200 and more, call 800-775-1000 and select the dental claims option. Your clients will know in advance whether the policy covers the service or procedure their dentist recommends and what they can expect their policy to pay.

Does Mutual of Omaha accept credible coverage?

At this time, Mutual of Omaha does not accept proof of credible coverage to waive part of the waiting period for major services.

Is there a dental family plan available?

Not at this time. All policies are individual plans.

How do clients request reimbursement for vision expenses?

After paying for their eye exam, eyeglasses or contact lenses, clients will be reimbursed up to the maximum benefit amount. To request reimbursement, call 800-775-1000 and select the vision benefits claims option. Note: Reimbursement for eyeglasses or contact lenses requires a qualified proof of the expense (itemized receipt, explanation of benefits or other document that records the expense).

Senior consumers search for dental insurance more than you might think – in fact, for one our local agencies, it's one of the top online lead generators. Whether you think dental insurance is a waste of your time or not, it’s what people are searching for. And you know the saying… give the people what they want!

The fact of the matter is that there’s a huge need for it in the senior market. Why?

  • Medicare doesn’t cover most dental services
  • About 74 million Americans don’t have dental coverage (about 23% of the entire population)
  • 76% of seniors say they plan to visit the dentist within the next year

So… people need it, and they can’t pay for it.

That explains why dental insurance is one of the most popular ancillary product sales for Medicare-eligible clients.
