Following our recent announcement about the Medicare Plan Finder enhancements, CMS has released updated technical guidance with more specific details about the 2026 rollout.
CMS has partnered with SunFire Matrix to provide the provider network data for Medicare Advantage plans. The deadline for MA organizations to submit their provider data was today, September 8, 2025.
This means some plans may not have provider directory information available when the feature launches October 1st if they missed the deadline or elected not to participate. For those plans, MPF will simply link to the organization's own provider directory—just like it works now.
CMS also specified exactly which new supplemental benefits are being added to the detailed display:
The provider directory feature may have some gaps initially, so don't be surprised if not every plan shows network information right away. Plans that didn't make the September 8th deadline will be added as they submit their data to SunFire.
Everything else remains on track for the October 1st launch, with the AI drug search tool still expected sometime this fall.
