Happy 4th of July from New Horizons

Happy 4th of July from New Horizons

I recently had the opportunity to travel outside the United States of America. I was in Spain, and I have visited other European countries previously. My takeaway from that trip and others is how young America is in comparison.

Those countries have churches, monuments, and streets that are 300 years older than our great country. Our nation has accomplished so much in a short time when comparing us to any of these much older countries.

My point is not to brag about America, but as we celebrate its birthday of independence, we take pride and appreciate what all of the great Americans have done to get us to where we are seen as a superpower in the world.

All countries have long stories of bravery and heroism, but our nation took on Great Britain and became officially independent on July 4, 1776. Constitutional Congress actually voted on July 2 of 1776, but it took a couple of days to get all the paperwork in order, so the nation did not see the press release until July 4, and that is the date that is remembered.

My love for our country is something I am very proud and excited about. My hope for you and your families as we celebrate our birth of independence is that we remember how fortunate we are to live in this great land where our slogan is “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.” That is the very best of America.

Please stay safe and take a moment to realize how fortunate we ALL are to live in this great nation! Happy Birthday America!
